The ALOHA Project
In August 2015, Taryn and Marissa Javier created an artist residency and retreat in Hana, Hawaii on the Eastern tip of Maui. Collaborating with artists from Montreal and Paris, the Javier sisters connected with members of the Hana community; utilizing space for open research sessions, a painting workshop with the local school children and various meetings and excursions throughout their stay. Unfortunately, the painting workshop could not take place due to a small scale hurricane, but that is part of life in Hana. There is an undeniable relationship to nature, that promotes deep connection within the community, acute awareness and rich vitality. It was an honour to be exploring, creating and connecting in such a wild and vibrant environment. Roots have been established and development for the next retreat is in development. The Javiers would like to extend sincere gratitude to Jenavi, Kyle Williams and family for their tremendous support, heartfelt hospitality and making this dream a reality.
ALOHA SUMMER
An interactive evening, celebrating the creative talent and entrepreneurial spirit in our community, providing an atmosphere that fosters creativity, connection and collaboration. The event hosted over 300 guests, who enjoyed delicious food from local sensations BunBoys food truck and Pizza Master Fusion, live music, dance performances, floral and light installations and live painting. In all there were close to 50 collaborators and performers, an artist market and silent auction, united together with the help of 20 plus volunteers to make it all possible. A special thank you goes out to all the performers, businesses, artists, healers, volunteers and supporters who made this event a shining success!
